With pride, he recounted the story of a woman who had gastric bypass surgery and later underwent a seven-hour surgical session with McGill.

He performed a circumferential abdominoplasty, which consists of the removal of a ring of skin and muscle around the entire midsection, front to back.

The remaining skin and muscle are pulled up from the hips and down from the ribcage area and rejoined at the waist.

"I have to figure out what's going to move up, what's going to come down and where it's going to end up," he says.

"My aim is always perfection." The navel is rebuilt, and because weight-loss patients lose fat everywhere, he sometimes lifts the breasts, a procedure known as mastopexy, and he may fill out the buttocks, as well.

"I can't tell you how delighted she is to have a curvaceous butt," McGill said proudly, gesturing toward another image on his screen.

Mum's the word Regardless of how delighted they are, many patients keep quiet about their procedures.

They'll tell their colleagues they've been on vacation.
